An angel embracing a small boy, at the head of a queue of children, apparently an alternative Christmas card. Amelia Bauerle (or Bowerley), died 1916.  In case you've missed it the Tate Britain are having a Hogarth exhibition from 3 November 2021 – 20 March 2022. In this exposition his most famous London satirical images are being contextualised by his other paintings and graphic works as well as those by his European contemporaries. They start the exhibition with various depictions of William Hogarth, including paintings, a miniature and a bust.   William Hogarth. Murphy, North side Paddington Green. Rare and extremely fine mezzotint. Sheet 490 x 620mm (19¼ x 24¼"). Framed. Thread margins. Unexamined out of frame. A superb example of the finest images produced in the history of mezzotint, depicting a a recumbent tigress, probably the Royal Tiger in Stubbs's possession when he died. The painting had originally been engraved by John Dixon in 1772; however that mezzotint plate had been destroyed, so John Murphy was allowed to engrave a new plate. Lennox-Boyd 133: ii of ii.   Seasons Greetings!   Christmas - Time.     (Designed Etched & Published by George Cruikshank May 1st 1827).   Etching with original hand colour. Sheet 265 x 355mm (10½ x 14"), paper watermarked 'Whatman Turkey Mill 1826.
