Catalogue 112 update and Firsts London Rare Book Fair!

 Our Science catalogue: Astronomy, Science, Natural Phenomena including space, railways, canals, aerial ships, planes, the weather, balloons, caves, ancient rock formations, landslips, fossils. Will be out 15th October .   Most of the astronomy items come from the collection of our friend and old restorer Gerald Morris, sadly no longer with us and the collection of David Smith forms the core of Railways, Steam Ships and engineering in this new listing. David was a good customer of ours and others for over 40 years. We will be exhibiting at Firsts London at the Saatchi Gallery 21-24 October 2021. Click here for a free E-ticket.

    The March of Interlect or a Dust-Man & Family of the 19th Century. Marks fecit. [n.d., c.1830.] Coloured etching. Sheet 160 x 210mm (6¼ x 8¼"). Trimmed to printed border, laid on album paper, with second droll on reverse. A satire on the aspirations of the working classes. The affluently dressed dustman's wife asks her husband if he has seen the latest issue of 'La Bells Ass-emblee' (John Bell's La Belle Assemblée, or Bell's Court and Fashionable Magazine). The second droll is 'Very Wet', a coloured aquatint (180 x 140mm, trimmed to image), with a well-dress woman getting soaked despite her umbrella. Not in BM.
