A grotesque, winged Puck, sitting on a toadstool. Apparently a preparatory sketch for the cover illustration of 'Virtue's Imperial Shalespeare', a 40-part illustrated series published by Charles Knight, 'with Illustrations by Cope, R.A. Leslie, R.A., Maclise, R.A. E.M. Ward. R.A. W.P. Frith, R.A. H.S. Marks, A.R.A. and others'.
